Human Rights Watch Reports on War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity Committed in the Congo

In September, longtime MacArthur grantee Human Rights Watch published a comprehensive report on mineral exploitation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. “The Curse of Gold” documents war crimes and crimes against humanity being committed by local armed groups fighting for the control of gold mines and trading routes. This report could contribute to the ongoing inquiry by the International Criminal Court into the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
