The Gulf Coast Housing Partnership, a mission-based developer created with MacArthur support to help rebuild affordable housing and revitalize communities devastated by the 2005 hurricanes, has had several key successes in the decade since. It has helped to develop more than $300 million in commercial and residential real estate, including more than 2,200 affordable homes and thousands of square feet of commercial space in the region, according to a report by the Housing Partnership Network, a recipient of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. Beyond its original work in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, GCHP recently expanded to Mississippi, Alabama and now Texas.
