Affinity groups in philanthropy have made significant contributions to advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the philanthropic sector. In addition to support for people of color and LGBTQ people in philanthropy, their work has sparked more investment in under resourced communities working to promote equity and justice across race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. MacArthur awarded general operating support grants to four affinity groups totaling $2.5 million to support their continued advocacy.
