Rapid advancements in technology, including the transformative impact of artificial intelligence across sectors, necessitate that different and emerging thought leaders contribute to the public discourse, including sharing societal and ethical considerations. The Public Voices Fellowship on Technology in the Public Interest is a year-long program designed to elevate a wide array of expert voices shaping the conversation on the social impacts of technology. An initiative of The OpEd Project supported by MacArthur, 20 thought leaders will be selected for the program’s second cohort.

Fellows participate in convenings and receive individualized support, mentorship, and coaching with journalists, where they gain practice in writing, editing, and pitching opinion pieces in influential outlets. They join a network of peers with resources and support to ensure that underrepresented perspectives shape debates on the ethical, social, and civic dimensions of technology. Applications are accepted through September 25, 2025.
