The MacArthur-supported Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices has approved the first two subscribers to the Voluntary Code of Ethical Conduct for the Recruitment of Foreign-Educated Nurses to the United States. O'Grady Peyton International and GlobalCare, Inc., two large international health care staffing agencies, committed themselves to the principles set forth in the Code. The Code seeks to help protect the rights of foreign-educated health professionals and the health care needs of less developed nations, while ensuring that foreign health personnel are equipped to provide high quality and culturally competent care in the U.S. Three additional companies are in different stages of the subscriber application process. The Alliance will continue outreach to potential subscribers through May 2012.
