The government of Cambodia has classified nearly 67,000 hectares as protected forest, creating a unique important bird and biodiversity area now known as the Siem Pang Protected Forest. The move comes after several years of collaboration between the government and BirdLife, a MacArthur grantee. BirdLife and Cambodia's Forestry Administration have been working together at the site for more than 10 years to conserve its wildlife and habitats, and helping local communities manage their livelihoods sustainably.
