The Smart Museum of Art has announced 28 MacArthur Fellow artists who will take part in Toward Common Cause, an exhibition to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the MacArthur Fellows program. The exhibition focuses on the idea of “the commons”—inclusion and exclusion, ownership and public space—and will take place at venues across Chicago to connect with communities. The artists represent a variety of artistic practice, and together engage the current socio-political climate as they work to imagine a more equitable future.
