New Natural Forest Areas Certified in Laos

With technical support from MacArthur Foundation grantees Tropical Forest Trust and World Wildlife Fund, two natural forest areas covering 125,000 acres in Laos have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This is the first such certification in Indochina and will allow sustainably-harvested timber from the area to be sold on premium markets where there is a demand for wood from well managed forests.
