February 12, 2015 | From the field | American Democracy, MacArthur Award for Creative & Effective Institutions

A new interactive database tracks political contributions to state lawmakers in all 50 states. The database, which was created by the National Institute on Money in State Politics, enables citizens, journalists, and public officials to sort the data by legislator, legislative committee, and specific legislation. The Institute, a recipient of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, offers the nation's only free, nonpartisan, verifiable archive of contributions to political campaigns in all 50 states.
