$560,000

Established in 2003, Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC) is a civil society organization advocating for and facilitating integrity in public procurement, contract implementation, and public access to information. With the previous grant, PPDC successfully developed and deployed Open Contracting Data Standards (OCDS) platforms for the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Kaduna, and Ekiti states and built the capacity of stakeholders to manage the database. With this final award, PPDC continues to offer technical assistance to Kaduna and Ekiti states, as well as Adamawa State, while improving citizen capacity to demand open contracting systems. PPDC enhances transparency and accountability mechanisms in public procurement in these states by assessing procurement practices in the health and education sectors. It supports improved compliance with existing public procurement legal frameworks, disclosure mechanisms, addressing citizen grievances, and gender inclusion and responsiveness in public procurement processes. PPDC continues to air the interactive radio program Budeshi, which popularizes open contracting issues. The award enhances the participation of marginalized voices, builds community accountability practices and strong institutions, and contributes to a reduction in corruption.
