The Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) is a membership organization for local, regional, topic-specific, investigative, and national nonprofit news organizations. It provides business, technology, legal and other relevant training for news entrepreneurs; fiscal sponsorship for nascent news operations; and opportunities for peer-learning and information sharing. It also advocates for the field among funders, assists the field in addressing industry-wide challenges, and negotiates on behalf of its members with service providers. INN serves the expanding field of nonprofit newsrooms and works to connect its member organizations to the resources needed to sustain and grow their activities. This grant enables INN to operate at a capacity commensurate with the demand for its services in the field. The outcome of this work is a stronger network of nonprofit newsrooms across the United States better equipped to provide the public with the news and information they need.
