$535,000

International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is an international research institute that provides objective information on military, geopolitical, and geo-economic developments that could lead to conflict. This award supports its project on verifiable dismantlement of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities. IISS seeks to engage and interview inspectors, diplomats, and political leaders responsible for the implementation of previous inspection and verification regimes to create a comprehensive history of experiences and lessons learned. From that, it creates a framework for application to the North Korean case.

Founded in 1958, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is a leading authority on global security, political risk, and military conflict. This project examines whether and to what extent Iran’s missiles meet the criterion specified in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, which calls on Iran to refrain from any activity related to ballistic missiles that are designed to be capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
