    Human Rights

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A division of SITU Studio, SITU Research is a multidisciplinary design practice that operates at the intersection of architecture, law, science, and advocacy. The award supports a project, "Spatial Practice as Evidence and Advocacy," which seeks - through applied interdisciplinary casework - to demonstrate the role spatial analysis and visualization can play in human rights fact- finding and reporting. There are two outcomes that will result from the award. First, SITU Research is making tangible contributions to the efforts of human rights practitioners by assisting in the documentation, analysis, and visualization of human rights violations through five to six case studies. Second, the organization is producing new tools and techniques for distribution to the wider human rights field about the role spatial analysis and visualization can play in documenting human rights abuses for advocacy and litigation purposes.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Situ Studio LLC $250,000 between 1978 and 2017.
