MOSCOW, RUSSIA — This three-year grant of $150,000 to the Moscow-based non-profit Fund “Public Chronicles” is in support of a project to provide training in video production for journalists, bloggers, human rights defenders, civic activists, and members of the public. The grantee was established in 2010 on the initiative of a group of people convinced that video should be recognized as a vital form of literacy in today’s world. Foundation dollars are to be spent on staff salaries, running the website, and the design and creation of distance training courses. The grant would promote freedom of expression and an open Internet in Russia.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Fund Public Chronicles $150,000 between 1978 and 2017.
