2013 (1 year)
$250,000

The Metropolitan Tenants Organization aims to improve tenants’ living conditions and preserve affordable housing by empowering tenants to have a voice in decisions that affect their housing. The web application ("app") market for renters seeking single-family homes or apartments only helps them shop for units: it does not help prospective tenants avoid common mistakes or resolve problems while renting. Often, when issues arise landlords and tenants do not understand the protocols that govern how rental housing disputes are resolved. This grant will be used to develop a new app that will improve communications between tenants and landlords to resolve typical rental housing-related issues.
