    NEW YORK, NEW YORK — The Futuro Media Group (Futuro) is a nonprofit journalism organization that produces news, public affairs and cultural programming designed to tell underreported stories that illuminate the growing ethnic and racial diversity of the U.S. population. Futuro produces the weekly radio show Latino USA, heard on NPR stations around the country and online, and the PBS documentary series America By The Numbers. To reach new audiences, Futuro has expanded to produce podcasts and short-form digital videos, distributed directly and in partnership with other news organizations. General operating support from the MacArthur Foundation allows Futuro to make critical investments in infrastructure that enhance its ability to report across a range of media, while also providing it with the flexibility to respond quickly to opportunities to produce stories about important issues as they unfold.

    NEW YORK, NEW YORK — The Futuro Media Group (Futuro) is a nonprofit journalism organization founded by veteran broadcast journalist Maria Hinojosa in 2010. Futuro produces "Latino USA," a weekly public radio program heard on NPR, which offers a mix of in-depth explanatory reporting, on-the-ground coverage of timely issues, and first-person commentary, with a focus on current and emerging issues that affect the United States’ growing and increasingly diverse Latino communities. The documentary journalism series "America by the Numbers" will premiere in 2014 on PBS and WORLD Channel, which uses data about the changing demographics of the United States as the catalyst to explore underreported issues faced by communities of color.

    NEW YORK, NEW YORK — Latino USA is a radio program produced by the Futuro Media Group and heard weekly on NPR stations. The program offers a mix of in-depth explanatory reporting, on-the-ground coverage of timely issues, and diverse commentary, with a focus on current and emerging issues that affect the U.S.’ growing and increasingly diverse Latino communities. Each week the show explores topics related to democracy and political participation, economics, education, immigration, health, culture, and current events in Latin America. This grant will support the costs associated with the research and production of Latino USA.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Futuro Media Group $950,000 between 1978 and 2016.
