    LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Peace Brigades International (PBI) is a non-governmental organization with presence in Mexico since 1999, dedicated to protecting civil society’s space and supporting human rights organizations that suffer threats because of their work. With this award, PBI provides technical assistance to human rights groups addressing the widespread phenomenon of disappearances in Mexico. PBI’s technical assistance strengthens organizations’ security protocols and practices as well as their advocacy capacity.

    LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Peace Brigades International works to enhance protections for the work of human rights defenders. PBI is providing in Mexico protective accompaniment to defenders, conducting security workshops for defenders, and undertaking advocacy on behalf of defenders. As a result of this grant, staff of human rights organizations will experience increased security in the conduct of their work.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Peace Brigades International-Mexico $225,000 between 1978 and 2016.
