Convergence is an Ontario-based not-for-profit corporation generating data, intelligence, and deal flow for blended finance, which uses catalytic capital from public or philanthropic sources to increase private sector investment in developing countries to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to increase commercial investment in developing countries and help accelerate market growth through its knowledge platform and grant-based support for innovative blended vehicles. Since launching in 2016, it has catalyzed over $200 million in capital toward the SDGs and created a community of over 280 major foundations, donors, and investors. Grant proceeds support the development of 15 case studies over three years on blended finance transactions for the public domain, with the objective to disseminate knowledge about the design and implementation of blended finance structures, thereby leading to broader awareness and increasing use of blended finance and catalytic capital in the field. The case studies touch on diverse sectors, regions, deal types, and blending approaches and represent a range of philanthropic, public, and private investors.
