    CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — The Chicago Historical Society was established in 1856 and is the city’s oldest cultural institution. It collects, interprets and presents the history of Chicago and Illinois. Each year more than 50,000 K-12 students participate in the Historical Society’s educational programs. Public programming and tours reach more than 3,000 individuals annually. The Research Center is used by more than 10,000 researchers each year. Recent investments in digital services bring Historical Society programs, collections and curriculum to 2 million online users annually. This grant will support general operations of the Historical Society, new and continuing exhibitions, and educational initiatives.
