ABUJA, NIGERIA — Established in 2011, the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AfricMIL) is a Nigerian nonprofit that promotes media and information literacy to enhance democracy, accountability, and good governance.  With this award, AfricMIL is building public confidence in, and promoting implementation of, the 2016 whistleblower guideline in Nigeria. AfricMIL is organizing dialogues and training for staff unions and officials to promote support for whistleblowing in federal revenue generating agencies. The project is expected to popularize the whistleblowing guideline, thus contributing to a new atmosphere of accountability, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded African Centre for Media & Information Literacy $300,000 between 1978 and 2018.
