2015 (1 year)
$100,000

Upper East Films is producing the documentary film, Bedlam, which chronicles the United States’ current crisis of care of people suffering with mental illness, through the stories of four individuals who end up relying on county hospitals or jails for care. The film follows these four people and their families over two years, as they must navigate a system without adequate resources, and try to seek treatment that will allow them to live with dignity. The outcome of this grant will be the production of a feature-length documentary that will reach wide audiences, especially policymakers, and organizations working toward mental health care reform.
