The University of New Hampshire Foundation’s Carsey Center for Impact Finance is prioritizing efforts to advance climate equity for historically marginalized communities. This award will contribute to these efforts by supporting the Financial Innovations Roundtable (FIR) event, “Advancing Clean Energy Equity through Collaboration between Green Banks and CDFIs,” which looks at how Green Banks and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) can collaborate to bring meaningful clean energy projects to these communities and achieve co-benefits such as energy cost savings, job creation, and resiliency. It also supports research for a book that explores how to promote climate equity through community development approaches. This research will engage thought leaders from the climate justice and community development fields, and will include the dimensions and importance of the climate equity problem in the United States, along with solutions that community developers can implement to enable equitable access to clean energy, support climate resilience, and promote traditional community development goals.
