The University of Michigan's Science, Technology, and Public Policy program (STPP) is a unique research, education, and policy engagement center concerned with cutting-edge questions that arise at the intersection of science, technology, policy, and society. The award supports STPP to create a Community Engagement Playbook for Technologists and Scientists (Playbook) as a step towards more equitable partnerships between technical experts and communities. It will be organized as a set of steps for developing and maintaining such partnerships, with questions for discussion between the parties at each step, and supplemented with examples and quotes from project investigators and STPP’s community partners. The Playbook has two primary audiences: 1) researchers in universities, industry, think tanks, and non-profit organizations, and 2) community members and allied organizations.
