The University of British Columbia School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (UBC) is an interdisciplinary hub for innovation and learning that draws on the expertise of university institutes, research centers and faculties, and invites collaboration with local and global communities. This award is a transfer grant from the Center for International Science and Technology Policy at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University to UBC. This award supports education and training, as well as work on the so-called “back end” of the nuclear fuel cycle, which refers to handling spent nuclear fuel. Intended outcomes include policy advice on issues associated with nuclear energy and nuclear weapons production and nuclear materials usage, including nuclear waste disposal, nuclear decommissioning, regulatory practice, and public engagement.
