The New York Times Communities Fund moves readers to contribute to local, national, and global nonprofits through compelling storytelling. The Fund was established in 1911 as The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund to encourage the paper's readers to help their neighbors in need. Since then, this annual appeal has raised more than $330 million for selected nonprofits that have helped millions of people lead better lives. This effort will build on a 112-year legacy to maximize impact and motivate a community of informed donors. A modernized Fund will reach The Times audience, which has grown significantly in scale, scope, and sophistication. The goal is to capitalize on the Times's extended reach, increasingly diverse platform, and credibility to solicit more support for high-impact programs that assist our global community.
