Sonic Archives is a weekend-long public program at The Kitchen’s Westbeth space in New York City, featuring musical performances and a panel discussion with six MacArthur Fellows: Claire Chase (2012), George Lewis (2002), Jason Moran (2010), Ikue Mori (2022), Tomeka Reid (2022), and Ken Vandermark (1999). The event coincides with the closing of Instrument/Object, an exhibition by Josiah McElheny (2006) at The Kitchen that transforms the space into a hybrid installation and performance venue. Through live performance and dialogue, Sonic Archives celebrates artistic collaboration with a reflection on sonic archiving and the interplay between sound and history.
To support Media and the Humanities, a series of video installations and exhibitions.
