$600,000

Founded in 1993, the Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP), strives to promote change within the civil and criminal legal systems to enhance safety, security, and justice for survivors of gender-based violence, their families, and communities. BWJP’s body of work includes training, technical assistance, and consulting to advocates, nonprofit service providers, community leaders, and systems professionals. The organization operates several national policy and practice centers, including the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms (“NRCDVF”) which spearheads legal, policy, and advocacy efforts to prevent domestic violence-related assaults, including homicides involving firearms. BWJP also runs the Defense Center for Criminalized Survivors which provides technical assistance, resources, and support for victims of gender-based violence who have been criminalized as a result of being abused. This grant will provide $600,000 in support of the general operations of BWJP.
