The Texas Tribune is a digital-first, nonpartisan, nonprofit media organization that informs and engages Texans through in-depth investigations and reporting on public policy, politics, government, and statewide issues. The Tribune envisions a Texas where every Texan is empowered with the information that they need to fully participate in civic society and democracy. This general operating grant supports the Tribune’s programmatic and educational mission, including expanded coverage along the U.S./Mexico border, providing accurate and trusted news and information to better inform Texans in the region.

$100,000

Texas Tribune is a nonpartisan, nonprofit newsroom covering government, politics, and public policy issues for the state of Texas. Launched in 2008, it is among the early digital-first, nonprofit newsrooms that has led the way for a new generation of public-service journalism organizations over the past 25 years. An average of four million users per month read the Texas Tribune online and numerous smaller newsrooms republish the Tribune's content on a regular basis. This grant provides general operating support and is intended to help the Tribune deepen its relationships and support of small and rural news outlets working to meet the information needs of Texans in underserved areas of the state.
