Equitable Evaluation Initiative

The Equitable Evaluation Initiative (EEI) is a fiscally sponsored project of the Seattle Foundation working to redefine the way philanthropy conceptualizes data, knowledge, truth, and evidence into its evaluation processes. EEI began in 2016 as a project funded by the WK Kellogg Foundation and has since evolved into a national initiative. By incorporating four core audiences, each with different relationships to evaluation – foundations; nonprofits and the communities nonprofits serve; evaluators and consultants; and academics and researchers – EEI explores the ways in which current evaluation practices within philanthropy can be barriers to the adoption of equitable evaluation principles, and then identifies and shares approaches that interrupt those mechanisms. This grant helps to promote best practices for evaluation processes that are grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
