The Research Data Alliance (the Alliance) is a community-driven international organization based at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and launched in March, 2013 to create the infrastructure needed to address data-driven challenges in science and society. Since then, the Alliance has attracted a membership of more than 3300 data science and other professionals in more than 100 countries, and developed open data standards that are gaining widespread use. This award is one of a number recent grants by the Foundation  supporting open access. It will fund four new working groups (Adoption Seed Projects) developing data interchange standards, the Alliance’s eighth global plenary, and the work of its central secretariat.
