2021 (3 years)
$520,000

The Progressive Impact Organization for Community Development (PRIMORG) is a Nigerian nonprofit and media advocacy organization promoting citizen engagement, participation, and inclusion in governance. This renewal helps PRIMORG to deepen and consolidate its popular radio show, Public Conscience, which amplifies investigative corruption reports; gathers and analyzes weekly citizen feedback on the state of corruption and anti-corruption; and its live radio townhall show, which features public and senior officials of anti-corruption agencies, activists, and social influencers discussing specific corruption cases. PRIMORG is mobilizing young people in anti-corruption by expanding its social media work and partnering with On Nigeria’s Joinbodi grantees to promote positive role models and advocate for reforms to improve transparency; inclusion; accountability; asset tracing, recovery, and management; the whistleblower policy; and the administration of constituency projects. This project is implemented in collaboration with other On Nigeria grantees and is expected to reduce corruption and strengthen accountability, transparency, and participation.

2019 (2 years 4 months)
$300,000

Progressive Impact Organization for Community Development (PRIMORG) is a Nigerian nonprofit that promotes active citizenship, good governance, and development through mass media, civic education, and policy advocacy. This award supports PRIMORG to strengthen anti-corruption and accountability work in Nigeria by amplifying corruption-related investigative reports on the radio and through social media. With a strategic focus on investigative reports on corruption and instances of Nigerians fighting corruption or demonstrating exemplary integrity and honesty in private and public sectors, PRIMORG is amplifying messages to educate Nigerians about the cost of corruption, how ordinary Nigerians are resisting corruption, and how the public can get involved in anti-corruption activities. PRIMORG is also using social media platforms to curate and disseminate multimedia messages about corruption, to stimulate debate and calls for action, especially among young people. This award increases visibility for investigative reports on corruption; educates and mobilizes new audiences, especially those who use radio as their primary news source; encourages Nigerian youth to get involved; and increases pressure on anti-corruption bodies to respond.
