UndocuBlack Network

The UndocuBlack Network (UndocuBlack), which is housed at the Praxis Project, was established in 2016 as a multi-generational network of currently and formerly undocumented Black people to help foster community, facilitate access to resources, and organize the Black immigrant population in the United States, a group that is largely invisible in policy discussions about immigration reform. This project grant provides flexible support for the UndocuBlack Network to weave storytelling and narrative change strategies into all aspects of its work. This includes training members to be spokespeople on behalf of their communities, co-creating content with professional media makers about the Black immigrant experience, and amplifying the voices and policy preferences of its membership. This grant is intended to help break the invisibility of Black immigrants in this country and combat inaccurate and damaging stereotypes about them while building their civic and political power.

UndocuBlack Network

The Praxis Project is a national nonprofit focused on building power at the community level to advance health equity and racial justice. It serves as the fiscal sponsor for the UndocuBlack Network (UDN), a multi-generational network of currently and formerly undocumented Black people. UDN was established in 2016 to provide services to and organize the Black immigrant population in the United States, a group that is largely invisible in policy discussions about immigration reform. This project grant supports the UndocuBlack Network to engage in a strategic planning process to help the three-year old project pivot toward a more proactive approach to its work that integrates storytelling and amplification of the voices and experiences of its members into its core mission.
