The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) was established by the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 as the government regulator of the power industry in Nigeria. Its mission is to promote and ensure an investor-friendly industry and efficient market structure; to meet Nigeria’s need for safe, adequate, reliable, affordable electricity; and to promote quality service delivery. This tie-off award enables NERC to consolidate its earlier work of educating customers and citizens on their rights, responsibilities, and procedures for rights enforcement and to foster interaction and accountability between customers and distribution companies. NERC is collaborating with other electricity grantees in implementing the project. The award contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption by supporting Nigerian-led efforts that strengthen accountability, transparency, and citizens’ participation.
