The National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) is the oldest and largest national organization supporting community stations within the public media system, serving 200 members nationwide, with 57% operating on budgets under $100,000 and 63% located in rural areas. NFCB member stations reach two million people across the United States, providing programming that emphasizes community service and local content as essential civic infrastructure, often serving as the only sources of information during emergencies in rural communities.
NFCB supports its members in developing adaptive strategies as they face a changing funding landscape, particularly following the loss of Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) funding, which has had a disproportionate impact on small-budget rural stations.
To provide technical assistance to new low-power FM radio stations (over two years).
