The National Center for Family Philanthropy, which seeks to activate and equip a diverse community of philanthropic families to embrace and contribute to a world where all communities are vibrant, equitable, and regenerative, is conducting a landscape scan of the impact investing field to understand the ecosystem of impact investing networks, learning communities, funding collaborations, and other opportunities for philanthropic entities. This scan will inform the design, planning, and implementation of a family-centered community that supports current practitioners and newcomers for ongoing learning, peer problem-solving, and best practice sharing. Foundation support for this project has the potential to contribute meaningfully to building and deepening the field of impact investing in family philanthropy for many years to come.

$150,000

The National Center for Family Philanthropy, which seeks to activate and equip a diverse community of philanthropic families to embrace and contribute to a world where all communities are vibrant, equitable, and regenerative, is partnering with Mission Investors Exchange (MIE) and Philanthropy California in the inaugural Impact Investing Learning and Action Network. This program provides a shared introductory impact investing learning experience, as well as a place where family foundations can build and strengthen relationships, share insights, and strategize on the application of these concepts. The objectives for the Impact Investing Learning and Action Network include: a) increase knowledge and understanding of impact investing for foundations who are new to the practice; b) increase understanding of the barriers that are currently faced by family foundations in order to inform future programming; c) mobilize more capital; and d) understand capital gaps and community needs, with a specific focus on historically marginalized communities. Foundation support for this pilot project and strong set of partners has the potential to make a meaningful contribution to building and deepening the field of impact investing in family philanthropy for many years to come.
