Mission Edge

El Tímpano

Mission Edge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides human resources, accounting, and fiscal sponsorship services to other nonprofits, operating with a social enterprise model and sector expertise. As the fiscal sponsor, Mission Edge supports El Tímpano, a newsroom dedicated to meeting the information needs of Spanish-language-speaking and Mam-language-speaking communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. El Tímpano informs, engages, and elevates the voices of these communities—historically underserved by local media—through news coverage and community-centered reporting that addresses their most pressing issues. With this grant renewal, El Tímpano continues its innovative approaches to participatory journalism and strengthens its impact as a founding partner of the Immigrant News Coalition, fostering greater equity and representation in local news.

Indigenized Energy

This award provides flexible project support to Indigenized Energy, a fiscally sponsored project of Mission Edge. Mission Edge supports nonprofits and small businesses to maximize their social impact, and currently hosts 31 projects. Indigenized Energy’s mission is to pursue tribal energy sovereignty through trusting partnerships and innovative programs that grow tribes’ capacity to unleash the power of renewable energy. This work benefits tribes by creating healthier economies and well-paying jobs, while honoring the belief systems of their ancestors, preserving the planet for future generations, and restoring a sense of hope in Native American communities.
