Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities

Founded in 1992, the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) is the umbrella organization of persons with disabilities in Nigeria. JONAPWD works for inclusive policy and spaces geared towards the rights of persons with disabilities. With this award, JONAPWD demands inclusive federal and state budgets and monitors accountable implementation of those budgetary allocations, including the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act. It works closely with On Nigeria partners to center disability in programming and action. The award enhances the participation of marginalized voices, builds community accountability practices, and strengthens the wider ecosystem as the On Nigeria program exits the field.
