The U.S.-Korea Institute (USKI) at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies is a hub of Korea-related education and policy discourse. This award is in support of USKI’s general operations. With MacArthur support, USKI conducts research, analysis, and engagement, and takes steps to institutionalize and expand its prominent website on North Korea, 38 North. Flexible support to USKI makes it possible for the institute to nimbly pursue its goals of improving the quality of debate about North Korea and reducing nuclear risks.
To provide independent expert advice and information relevant to the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit (over two years).
To support a policy research project to improve understanding of the constraints on spent fuel storage in South Korea.
