Grants

2020 ( 4 months)
$15,000

Founded in 2014, the International Neighborhood Collaborative’s Dovetail Project provides fathers ages 17 to 24 the skills and support they need to be better fathers for their children and better men in their communities. The Dovetail Project offers a 12-week program that helps young fathers gain a better understanding of the responsibilities of fatherhood and their importance in the lives of their children.  The program focuses upon three areas of development: education on family law and felony street law, financial literacy and job skills training, and basic parenting skills.  Located in Greater Grand Crossing, the Dovetail Project has pivoted to providing online support for case management, virtual outreach and education, and distribution of PPE items to young fathers during the COVID-19 crisis.  Under the expanded types of X-Grants related to COVID-19, MacArthur Funds would primarily support the organization’s efforts to adapt to virtual work. The x-grant funds would be used for technology upgrades such as a voice over IP network, a digital platform for case management, laptop computers and mobile phones for the staff.
