The Institute for Innovations in Development is a nonprofit established in 2010 to use research, training, policy, and advocacy to transform communities and shape governance and development to be inclusive and life-changing for ordinary citizens. The purpose of this award is to consolidate Nigeria’s recent gains in the electoral process by establishing the Nigeria Election Working Group which will bring together reputable practitioners and researchers to engage in advocacy and research and make recommendations to sustain electoral reforms, and deepen democracy in Nigeria. Specific activities to be accomplished include evidence-based research on electoral reform and election management, and promotion of collaboration on these issues among researchers, civil society organizations, the Independent National Electoral Commission and development partners; establishment of a database of research, policy documents, laws, experts, and guidelines on election-related matters; and policy recommendations to INEC, security agencies, civil society, election adjudication bodies, political parties and development partners on reforms of the electoral process. The overall outcome of this project is the sustainability and consolidation of the Foundation’s investment in elections in Nigeria and broad improvement of election management.
