Digital Public Goods Network

The Digital Public Goods Network (DPGN), fiscally sponsored by Global Impact, is a cross-sector collaboration that supports the nonprofit and public interest sectors by promoting coordinated technological problem-solving and building shared data infrastructure rooted in open data and open science principles. Its primary beneficiaries include researchers, policymakers, nonprofit organizations, and civil society groups that rely on stable, accessible public data to drive informed decision-making, accountability, and social impact. DPGN’s mission is to prevent data loss, reduce duplication, and foster a connected ecosystem of interoperable tools that enhance collective effectiveness. Success for the organization means preserving critical datasets, enabling broad and equitable access to information, and strengthening the infrastructure that supports long-term civic engagement and research.

Fund for a Safer Future

Global Impact, founded in 1981 and based in Alexandria, VA, works on charitable ventures to inspire greater giving. Established in 2011, the Fund for a Safer Future (FSF), a project of Global Impact, is a funder collaborative that works to reduce gun violence in the United States by supporting evidence-based programs and policies at the local, state, and federal levels. It also provides a platform for funders interested in solving America’s gun violence crisis to convene, collaborate, and co-invest. This award contributes to: 1) FSF Community Violence Intervention rapid response fund that protects, builds, and fortifies recent gains in the field; and 2) FSF Firearms Research fund that supports an array of research projects ranging from evaluations of community violence programs to understanding the effectiveness of extreme risk protection orders.

Beacon

Global Impact, founded in 1981 and based in Alexandria, VA, works on charitable ventures to inspire greater giving. Its project Beacon provides strategy, coordination, and expert services to individuals and organizations facing complex, high-stakes threats due to their civic participation. Beacon assembles and coordinates tailored teams, drawing from legal counsel, crisis communications specialists, and digital and physical security experts, so those targeted can stay focused on their work. This award provides flexible support to Beacon.

GovAct and Affiliates

GovAct and Affiliates (GovAct) is a nonpartisan 501c(3) initiative, fiscally sponsored by Global Impact, that unites governors to champion America’s fundamental freedoms. GovAct is a convener, supporter, innovator, and resource aimed at maximizing how governors use their unique and broad executive powers to protect fundamental freedoms in a holistic way. By harnessing the power of governors and fostering collective action, GovAct is making sure essential rights and democratic values are upheld and advanced at scale.

Digital Action

A project of Global Impact, Digital Action’s mission is to protect democracy and human rights from technology harms by mobilizing advocates from around the world to collectively demand better standards from the governments and corporations responsible for our digital environments. Through campaigns and coalition building, Digital Action catalyzes a more strongly connected international civil society, building shared knowledge and momentum towards new equitable and inclusive governance and regulatory solutions. It does this by uplifting voices from the global majority to prioritize equity, inclusivity, power sharing and joint campaigning. The award provides flexible support to Digital Action as it aims to address the impacts of Big Tech platforms and artificial intelligence technologies on the people and places furthest away from corporate power.
