2021 (3 years)
$600,000

Girl Security, founded in 2019, works to forge equity in national security by preparing girls, women, and gender minorities for careers in national security’s many pathways, including nuclear policy. Through its programs, Girl Security helps to build a national security workforce that looks like the nation it is securing, while also bringing to the forefront the diverse lived experience of girls and women. This award provides support to Girl Security to expand its activities, including its in-school programming in high schools based in marginalized communities, including the Navajo Nation; its Fellows Program that engages women as they enter colleges and universities, including an expanded partnership with Historic Black Colleges and Universities; and its Girl Security Mentor Program. Intended outcomes include increased numbers of girls and women in national security and nuclear policy careers.
