The Foundation for Louisiana (FFL) is the state’s first Black-led social justice intermediary founded in 2005 as the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, to invest in the immediate recovery of communities after Hurricane Katrina. While FFL was founded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, founders recognized the need to address the longstanding inequities that have shaped life outcomes for the most marginalized of Louisianans. FFL currently seeks expedited funding to provide aid to residents, especially those who are Black, economically disadvantaged, housing insecure, and impacted by the state’s exploitative carceral system, during the twin pandemics of COVID-19 and systemic racism.
