Environics Trust is a not-for-profit research and community development organization with long experience in conducting socio-anthropological research on issues around ethical management of the environment. It serves as the secretariat for several regional and national networks, and is a co-founder and promoter of the Indian Network on Ethics and Climate Change, the Environmental Impact Assessment Resource and Response Centre and the Occupational and Environmental Health Network of India. 

This award supports Environics Trust to develop and execute pilot interventions to offer alternative livelihood options for coalmine-dependent communities in Chhattisgarh, India. Environics Trust will share information with policymakers on what is required to support fossil-fuel dependent communities as they access and adopt new livelihood options as part of India’s overall commitment to make the transition to clean energy in a socially equitable manner.

Environics Trust will use a mobile phone based technology platform to enable Gond tribals of central India share anecdotes, opinions and grievances with a wider community. The project also provides a mechanism for the redress of grievances registered.
