Community Foundation for Southern Arizona

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) has been dedicated to making Southern Arizona a better place for all since 1980. Its mission is to build a thriving Southern Arizona through philanthropy, and its region spans the entire southern border of Arizona, encompassing seven counties and six tribal nations. It launched its Local News Initiative in November 2023, which was created to help strengthen local journalism in the community and fill critical gaps in local news and information. In 2024, the Local News Initiative became Press Forward Southern Arizona, the first chapter in the state. This grant will enable grantmaking, supporting staff and services for journalist training/professional development, and securing mental health, legal, and security services.
