$265,000

Established in 1985, Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW) promotes the safety, health, and economic vitality of women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals through grantmaking and leadership development. The CFW Women’s Leadership Development Initiative (WLDI) encompasses several programs that empower women as Chicago-area leaders. Board Member Boot Camp prepares them to serve effectively on nonprofit boards, and Media Training enhances their ability to craft and deliver compelling messages. Core Concepts Coaching brings together 15 organizations each year for individualized instruction in areas such as fundraising and financial management. The WDLI cohort-based programs support the personal and professional growth of women who lead movements for systems change. CFW works to recruit participants to its leadership programs from nonprofits with an emphasis on the arts, economic development, and/or community safety and violence prevention sectors.

This award provides general operating support to Chicago Foundation for Women as part of MacArthur’s Advancing Leadership program.
