Founded in 1992, Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE) fosters collaboration between teaching artists and classroom teachers to offer in-school and after-school arts education to Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students, including special needs learners. Schools receive these programs free of charge. CAPE provides arts educators with professional development, evidence-based curriculum, and networking opportunities. In addition, CAPE’s gallery showcases student artwork. This award provides general operating support to CAPE as part of MacArthur’s Culture, Equity, and the Arts program.
