Founded in 2020, Capital & Main has built one of the most extensive American reporting projects on climate change. Focusing on accountability, the organization produces unflinching coverage on the fossil fuel industry, lawmakers and government officials, holding them accountable at a time when the climate emergency is accelerating at a rapid pace. Additionally, the publication produces solutions reporting on critical efforts to advance the clean energy transition as well as narrative stories on how the climate crisis affects communities, including those historically most impacted by both the fossil fuel industry and climate change. The award supports all aspects of the organization's operations.
