Archbold Expeditions - Buck Island Ranch

Archbold is a world-class natural laboratory, inspiring scientists and discovery for more than eight decades. Its 20,000-acre natural laboratory encompasses a Florida Scrub preserve, one of the nations’ rarest ecosystems, and the working cattle operation on the vast grasslands of Buck Island Ranch. The award is supporting general operations.

To support the Agro-ecology Research Center to evaluate the effectiveness of wetland restoration on a Florida ranch landscape (over two years).

Donation of all cattle, horses, and other livestock, equipment, fixtures, agricultural supplies and any and all other tangible personal property owned by the MacArthur Foundation and used in connection with the operation of Buck Island Ranch.

Program-related investment consisting of the use of 10,296 acres located in Lake Placid, Florida, at rent of $1 per year for 30 years for establishment of major center for intensive, multidisciplinary agro-ecological research.

Donation of the 1988-89 citrus crop harvest.
