Work undertaken by the Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project includes a mix of strategic litigation, public policy advocacy, media outreach, reports and analysis on technology and rights-based issues, engagement in internet standards bodies, and advocacy focused on technology company policies and practices.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a nonpartisan public-interest organization founded in 1920 and devoted to protecting basic civil liberties in the United States. With offices in all 50 states, and a network of 250 staff attorneys and over 1000 volunteer attorneys, it works through litigation, advocacy, and public education to monitor and defend Constitutional
rights. The ACLU organizes its work nationally through four centers - Justice, Democracy, Liberty and Equality. This grant supports the ACLU's Center for Equality, which addresses issues affecting America's most vulnerable citizens, including immigrants, people of color, and the poor. A central focus of its work is directed to defending and expanding voting rights; challenging laws that unnecessarily discourage voting; and holding public agencies accountable to their responsibilities to register voters, define fair legislative districts, and reduce the barriers to increased voter participation.

This grant will support the work of the Center for Equality, which conducts work on racial justice, immigrants’ rights, and voting rights.
